Beta Test open for the new accountability tool!

πŸ“… 16-03-26

In this email I reveal the MVP of a new tool I made!

Last week you folks were amazing πŸ₯²

Dozens and dozens of you replied to my email where I described a idea for

A new tool to help you stay accountable with drawing

You can read that email here if you've missed it.

But in short the idea is this:

My upcoming course will have "Checkpoints"

The course will teach you how to draw from imagination. Those checkpoints are designed to keep you accountable to practice what you're learning.

At each checkpoint you will be asked to upload a picture of your drawings for that checkpoint in a special website πŸ‘Ή

So here comes the fun part:

That special website will allow me to see everyone's work, AND...

... you can tick a checkbox to "Make your work public"

If you do that, you unlock the ability to see everyone else’s work from that same checkpoint.

Including mine. πŸ™ˆ

But I was worried I was being too ambitious.

It's a lot of work.

Your enthusiasm was clear validation of the idea though.. So now I had to find time to do it.

But I'm currently traveling and my productivity goes tits up when I'm on the go.

From my holiday in Valencia, I was flying straight to Rome to visit my Grandma for her 97th birthday (❀️)

I knew I will have Zero time for myself in a family reunion...

Just when I was stressing out about this, waiting to board, I heard the airport announcement:

Flight delayed by 4+ hours...

Everyone was livid. But I was pumped!

It was my opening!

I paid for better wifi and got to work πŸ€“

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» ...

... πŸ₯

Please say hello to:

Drawing Checkpoint (dot) com

πŸ‘‰ https://drawingcheckpoint.com

🀩

I'm sooooo excited!

But this special website is still a work in progress (an MVP if you will..)

So I need 20 beta testers.

(ideally more so don't be shy!)

The task is simple:

  1. Open drawingcheckpoint.com and create an account
  2. Join the "Welcome Challenge (Beta Test)"
  3. With pencil and paper (or whatever you fancy) do a quick 60s sketch of the image below.
  4. Leave the checkbox "Make this visible to others" ticked
  5. Check if you can then see the Gallery of everyone else's uploads for that checkpoint (if you're the first you will only see my upload)

If you feel like it you can continue too πŸ˜‰

I've added a second checkpoint that unlock after the first.

For that checkpoint I want you to continue on top of the same sketch, with the same reference, for an additional 3 minutes.

But that's up to you, for now one checkpoint should be enough to test the website and see if we can uncover some obvious bugs or improvements :)

Of course if you spot any bugs do let me know directly! (you can reply to this email or email me directly).

I hope you like it, and as always:

Have a strong week
🫢

P.s.

The waitlist for the course has already passed 250 people which is awesome. As a result I am not sure I will open it up to the public, at least not for the early launches where I want to be more hands on, more actively involved in making sure everyone is delighted with the experience.

So if you want to be part of the early launches click on this big fat button:

:)

P.p.s.

Despite ending with a long flight delay, Valencia was really a beautiful trip!

Plus the city was preparing for their biggest local festivity called "Fallas".

Basically each borough pools money throughout the year to commission enormous art sculptures to display on their streets during the week of Fallas. And at the end of it they burn them in the streets in what is essentially a huge bonfire night, representing the concept of "starting anew".
It's an impressive display of Art!

πŸ“… 10-03-26 In this email I share an idea I had for a cool accountability system/tool I might add to the drawing-from-imagination course I’m building Yesterday I had a long call with another creator in my space - Tieran, from Broken Draw. It was supposed to be a quick catchup, but we ended up talking for over three hours ! <3 ( Turns out he’s also a reader of this newsletter which made me blush 😊 ) If you don't know Tieran, he is a very dedicated artist who got pretty skilled at drawing from...

I'll make my point at the end of the email :) 🎬 Action! 🎬 Setup A few years ago I had what felt like the perfect idea for a manga. Original characters. A cool and strange world. A story arc that surprises you when you least expect it. It felt like something I had to bring into the world. I had to exist. Desire But I...
